    2002 - Adam Calver

Adam Calver, Former Employee, 1998-2005

“During my first year as Assistant Superintendent, we hosted the 2002 G8 Summit. That was an amazing year. Having the world descend into the valley was a surreal experience. There were 5,000 military securing the area. There were tanks parked in the turf care compound outside my office. Watching US President George W. Bush’s helicopters land in the driving range was a once-in-a-lifetime event, as well as having the chance to talk with Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien. He was such a funny guy – he just rolled into the Pro Shop and asked if he could play a few holes.

The team and atmosphere at Kananaskis are unlike any other I have ever worked with. They run one of the best operations anywhere and deliver an exceptional golf experience. It still feels like I am going home each time I visit. They were one of the first companies to have the wellbeing of their associates in the company mission statement and the company’s vision. They focused on providing the same experience for the staff as the guests. That was unheard of at the time and is rare, even today.

It is a huge relief to see the government supporting the restoration. It is the best golf resort in the province, if not western Canada. I have had people from across the country recognize the logo on a hat or shirt I was wearing and ask when I played there. It is one of those life-changing golf vacations for so many Canadians. Albertans are incredibly lucky to have such great golf in their backyard.”
